I love Wisconsin. The trees are mighty tall and it smells dam dandy, everywhere except the hole in the ground we had to poop in. Man camping is just fine with me, even if the men talk (mostly a certain man) about bringing ladies to the site and doing whatever you do w ladies around a fire. Every morning the sun gently wakes you up through the screen in the top of your tent, ahhhh. I rented this fancy lens to take on the trip w us, here are some examples of the outcome. I hope you enjoy these.

Then this black storm of death came at us from the west, heaving mightily into view before sobbing upon us like a heartbroken sow. The winds did whip. The kids did scurry. And we packed it in and made for the Portillos in Bloomingdale.

Sometimes it's real easy to go skating and have a good time and sometimes it's hard as hell. The spot may lack the necessary amount of wax to yield any real satisfaction. It may sport some new metal jewelry touting its superficial importance. The spot may attract deeply concerned citizens, volunteer watchmen and heckling passersby. But sometimes those metal brackets come off and the wax goes on like suntan lotion. And sometimes jocks will cheer you on to make a trick and then hand over a generous portion of their PBRs as I'm thinking there's nothing I'd rather be doing.

A sweet crew of dudes invited me to meet up in Arizona a little bit ago and good times were had by all. Nate killed it everywhere we went and skated for hours with the enthusiasm and radical energy of a 15 year old. Tim did some stylish laybacks and slappy'd everything he could find. Charlie is one of my favorite dudes and he apparently does a mean Jim Jarmusch impression when he's trying to bribe you into doing fantastic feats of flatground trickery. We skated a parking garage in a sunshower. The Nicks kept the good vibes flowing all week and I got to meet Todd from Detroit. Sick! I also got to make this crappy movie, enjoy.

Did you know that I'm a published author? It's true as hell. I wrote a whole book without a single picture inside! And while about nipple-deep in writing this second one, I have the fun task of "researching," which means just about anything I want it to mean. Driving around LA and taking pictures? Research. Skating the ramp the other day and spraining my wrist? Research! Trawling the web for terrible writing about our beloved Activity?

Nick's parents arranged a surprise 30th bday party at his apartment last Sunday (Anders lives there too). It was amazing! Stories and Limencello drinking happened (mostly by Nick though). Here are flicks.

Hey many congratulations to Neen Williams for being the new Deathwish Am. We all remember Neen from that park up on the Lake. I've just written and erased several sentences trying to capture how deserved this is for the guy, who's such a good in fact just a flatout great kid, the kind you want to introduce to your maybe racist grandma -- she's old, friends, she's of a different era -- as an argument for why young black males aren't to fear. Let's watch this and be stoked for Neen.

Looks like they're going to make it after all.
